Happy Thanksgiving! Letter Dated November 21, 2012

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Transfer week is super weird, but I had a lot of fun! Sister Wong I have stayed together :) Only one companionship in our district changed, Sister Word was replaced by Sister Brown! Exciting times lay ahead haha. There are 5 new Sisters and a ton of new Elders this transfer! I'm not the youngest anymore!!! Woot! One transfer down, 11 more to go ;)
Thanksgiving is tomorrow! Sister Wong and I are going to Sister Moorman's house for dinner, and we're looking at the Visitors Center in the morning. I'll miss being with family for this wonderful holiday, but at least I have my church family to be thankful with :)
The work is progressing in White Oak still. Lucy and Ismael are great, Nabil and John are great, Michael is also great! Although, we did have to push back Michael's baptism date to December 15th. But it's for the best :) Just some kinks we need to work out (like not eating yogurt before church on Sunday... He's lactose intolerant...). But yeah!

Story time: Yesterday was my favorite day of the transfer! We spent the whole morning serving with the Salvation Army! We spent 5 hours in a big kitchen preparing TONS of food for the homeless :) They will be eating some very awesome turkey today! But it was so fun to just be together as missionaries, serving people in anyway that we can! Then after cooking, we had a few appointments and dinner and then came the best part! Our hot chocolate stand at the metro!! We set up a table and had hot water and cocoa packets and just handed it out to people. They loved it! And it gave us a great opportunity to talk to people! I loved the way their eyes just lit up when they heard it was free, and that it was cocoa :) When they asked why we were doing this, I just told them "Because everybody needs a cup of cocoa every once in a while. It's good for the soul." I absolutely loved this! Sister Wong and I want to do it again before Festival starts!

Speaking of Festival!!! It starts super soon! A week from Friday is when it opens to the public! Ambassadors night is the 28th and the delegates come on the 29th, then everyone on the 30th! It's so exciting!! I can't wait! I can't wait! And the renovations are done!!! YAY!!! I'll send pictures of my name tag on the wall :) It's such a cool display! Ah! Lots and lots of pictures coming your way!

Anyway! I love you! I miss you! Please be safe, warm, and happy. Remember how your Heavenly Father has blessed you and say a prayer of gratitude (or two). He has blessed us all with so much: family, friends, the gospel, the Book of Mormon, everything! Ah! I am so blessed. Thank you for all that you do! I love, love, love you!
Love, Sister Bullock

Sunrise at the Lincoln Memorial...Sister Bullock's letter Nov 15,2012

Sister Wong and Sister Bullock in front of the Washington DC Temple
Hey everybody!
This week has been completely crazy! I say that every week, but it really has been crazy this week. But I'm loving every second of it :) Michael is doing soo well! The other day, he came to us and told us that he didn't think he was ready to be baptized! My heart broke! But we talked to him and asked him if he had asked Heavenly Father if he was ready, and we also read Mosiah 18 together. After that he was feeling a bit better, and committed to pray about it. The next day he called us and said he is ready and set to be baptized on the 25th! Ahhhh! We're so excited! He has been meeting with missionaries for the past 6 months! He's ready :) He has such a sincere desire to follow Christ :) Anyone who talks to him will be able to see his sweet testimony! Sad news: Ismael is not getting baptized on the 25th :( We found out Lucy and her ex share custody, and since Ismael is only 10, we need the fathers consent to baptize him. This is a major problem because the father is Muslim and wants Ismael to be Muslim. And Lucy hasn't told her ex anything about meeting with us because she thinks he'll try to take Ismael away from her if he finds out. Complicated and sad story of the week :( But! It will all work out. I know Lucy and Ismael will be baptized together, and at the right time. I am at peace with all of this now. Hmm... Rafi is coming back to church! He said he is tired of living a  life away from God, and really wants to turn things around! We're so happy for him!

The Visitors Center is coming together nicely! We have a brand new temple exhibit and an "I'm a Mormon" display! They're so cool! The back is coming together nicely, too! Should be done by the end of next week... Maybe. (If you have time, go to Mormon.org, and watch the I'm a Mormon Dionne video. It'd my favorite because of what she says at the end!) http://mormon.org/dionne

Today we went to DC! It was crazy fun! We woke up at 4 and went to the Lincoln memorial to watch the sun rise! Super pretty! I LOVE this place :) Pictures will be coming your way soon!

Transfers are next week! How insane is that?? I've (almost) completed my first transfer! Time flies when you're having the time of your life! :)

I love and miss you all! Thank you for your love and support! I will see you soon! Be strong and faithful, our Heavenly Father is anxiously waiting to bless you! Also, my scripture today is 2 Nephi 4:20-21 :) Just in case you were wondering!
LOVE YOU!
-Sister Bullock

This week's letter dated November 7, 2012

I love being a missionary!!!
I cannot say that enough! I seriously love being out here doing the Lords work! It's hard work, but it's fun at the same time! Sometimes I worry I'm having too much fun performing the Lords work! Haha.

I feel like this week has been super crazy, but it really hasn't. Just busy. The Visitor Center was closed all of last week because of the construction. It opened back up on Monday and I had a shift there on Tuesday. It's all going to be super awesome when it's finished (the front is to be done this week, the back will hopefully be done by the end of this month). I'm so excited! So I was a full proselyting  missionary this week! It was crazy! It left a lot of time for finding and teaching, which I loved! I've found that I really do like talking to people and getting to know their stories. People really are just wonderful :)

This week, I've really been learning about charity and diligence. The Lord has seen fit to humble me and teach me these principles, and I'm so thankful for it! I'm truly coming to love the people I meet and teach. It's exciting to see someone be touched by the spirit! As for service after the storm, sadly I haven't been able to really do any :( No one seems to take 2 girls in skirts very seriously when they offer to help clean up. But, oh well.

So our investigators with B-dates are progressing nicely still! We actually have a new b-date too! Her name is Jessica. She is best friends with Michael who is getting baptized on the 25th! She is set for the 9th of December! We're so excited for her! She really just wants that forgiveness and cleanliness that comes with baptism. She's so awesome!

I don't remember if I told you about Larry, but he's doing well also. He loves the Plan of Salvation, and says it has brought great peace to his life. You should hear him pray, too! It's so powerful!
We had to drop one of our new investigators though. He told us the only reason he was meeting with us is because he finds us "hott" and will do anything to be with us. That was an awkward conversation.
Festival is coming up fast! I'm SO excited! Words cannot even begin to describe how awesome it is!! AH! So happy!

Anyway, I love and miss you all! I'll see you in 16 months :)
Love, Sister Bullock

Sister Bullock is excited to find Faygo Rock & Rye in DC (We don't have Faygo in Idaho)
